whole 30 halftime

I can hardly believe we are halfway through January already.  Which also means I am halfway through another Whole 30.  The last fifteen days have really flown by.  Third times the charm, they say.  I have been feeling fabulous.  I totally needed the detox after the carb, dairy and booze festival that was the cruise and then December.  No cravings or any side effects.  Well, ok maybe one craving.  Sometimes, I think can hear the wine bottles talking about me behind my back.  Stories of abandonment and neglect.  I will be back for you.  I swear.

Other than that fact that it seems like I’m imbibing even when I am not, everything is going so smoothly with nothing for me to actually report.  Since Scott is doing it with me, I thought I would do a little Q and A to see how things are going for him.  By I thought, I meant the always awesome Laurie suggested.  That girl is a blogging genius.  Let’s check in and see what Scott thinks at the halfway point of his second Whole 30. My thoughts will be in italics after.

1.  What do you think of your first two weeks of the Whole 30 this time?
It is okay.  It is my second time around so no big surprises.
Agreed.

2.  How do you feel?
Tired, but that is because of a Sons of Anarchy marathon over the last few nights.  I don’t feel bloated or as weighed down without the carbs.
I never really realized the difference would be so vast when we did this the first time.  I actually could mean that I think I may have some carb aversion.  I was noticing some joint pain in my hips, knees and ankles after going back on carbs after both previous Whole 30’s.  It was really bad in December and so was my carb intact.  Sadly.  It has totally gone away this month.  This is something I am going to have to do some more thinking/research on for sure.

3.  Have you noticed any changes?
No.
My clothes are a little looser.  I cheated and checked.  I lost 8 pounds so far.

4.  Have you had any cravings or aversions?
Other than the lack of booze, no.  Where has all the rum gone?
Probably commiserating with the wine. For me, I can get enough fruit.  Usually, it is snap peas but some reason lately I can’t be bothered with them.  Give me all the grapefruits and apples you have and no one gets hurt.  Or bananas, always the bananas.

5.  What has been the best part so far?
No carbs.  I have been wanting to reduce my carb intake.

6.  Worst/hardest part?
At work when it is someone’s birthday and we get cake.  Not being able to have any.  Or when co-workers bring in treats.
Not being able to cook with sriracha.  I put that shit on everything.  So for now Louisiana hot sause it is.

7.  What have you learned?
Bread/carbs in general makes me lethargic.
Truth.

8.  What has your favourite meal been?
Tab’s Vegetable Lentil Stew.
Aww, schucks.

9.  What aspects would you like to carry forward when it is over?
Try to continue with the limited carbs.  Also, continue to explore more whole 30/living recipes.
Since this isn’t either of our first time doing this we have picked up a lot of good habits and incorporated them into our lifestyle.  I am looking forward to continuing to do so.

Apparently, I had more to say that I thought I did.  Funny how that works out.  I guess it is easier to answer questions but it is not like I was going to Q and A myself.  At least not without wine being involved.  Sober blogging.  Worst part? hahaha.
