Is It Wine Time Yet?

I am allowed to have wine again! Yahoo! In case you haven’t noticed I am more than a little excited about that.  Wino, bottle for one right here.  Even though it seems like winter is never going to end, I realized we are not to far off from wine touring season starting up again here.  By not too far off, I mean about 3 months but hey that is half way through the winter drought so I will take it.  It is not like I can’t get wine in the winter.  Clearly, they sell it in these convenient places called liquor stores, beer and wine shops and almost anywhere you have to pay to eat around here.  I just think there is some special or even magical about getting it straight from the source.  Hearing the stories of how it is made.  Plus, I have to prefer to get my wine somewhere where they let you sample it all it for free first.  I am longing to be able to spend my sunny Sunday afternoons touring around this beautiful place I call home in search of the perfect sip.  Just when I think I have found it there is another one to raise a glass to the challenge.
I realized that I never posted all the photos from last summer’s touring.  Bad blogger.  I thought I would start to do that now for nostalgia and also to help distract me till they are ready for me to come and visit again.
My best friend from high school was up one weekend in August and we got to quite a few wineries on the Saturday.  It was hot but unfortunately a little cloudy but we persevered.  The first winery we hit was Poplar Grove.  This is one of the bigger wineries on the Naramata Bench (one of wine areas here).  Most of the wineries don’t charge a tasting fee if you buy wine.  We were surprised that they do still charge the $5 fee.  Seems a little petty especially for a bigger establishment.  C’est la vie.

We picked up one of those darling bottles by Scott’s ear, a 2013 Blanc De Noirs.  It is a very delicious rosé.  It was a limited edition release and I am hoping I will be able to get it again this year.  I actually only got into drinking rosé this year.  Amazing! Kelli got a few different ones too.  This being our first stop and also living in the area we thought we would pace ourselves.  I actually still have it because I have been saving it but I think I just might have to drink that one up soon.

After Poplar Grove we headed over to Ruby Blues.  This place has a really cool vibe to it.  It actually opened originally as Ruby Tuesday but changed names to avoid confusion with an American restaurant of the same name.  The “sign” for the winery is an old VW bus that is painted up all cool like.  Unfortunately, I didn’t take a picture of it.  Bad blogger x 2.  I do however promise to go back soon and take one.

Their signature wines are the Red or White Stiletto.  The white one is divine.  Kelli swears by the red.     They also started selling stiletto’s in the wine shop as well.  Which I think is really, really cool.  Wine and shoes.  It is my heaven.

We sipped all the sips here and then headed off to Lang Vineyards but that is a story for another week.

Are you are wine drinker? Chances are that if you are reading this the answer is yes.  What do you prefer red or white?  Where is your favourite wine from?
