CWWReads : Charlie, Presumed Dead

It has been a little while since a book review graced these pages don’t you think? Yep, me too.  I am pretty sure I mentioned this before but I am so happy that Olya introduced me to Netgalley.  I love doing reviews and getting free books so it is a no brainer for me.  Signed up right quick I did. Uh huh.  Anyway, enough of that silliness. I finished the first book that they sent me tonight and I thought I would write all my thoughts down before they run away from me.

I just finished Charlie, Presumed Dead by Anne Heltzel and my first and only thought is that there needs be a sequel.  No seriously. Give it to me now.

The story centers around Aubrey and Lena, two very different girls who find out they have been dating the same guy when they met at his funeral.  Lena isn’t convinced that Charlie is actually dead and the two girls take off to find the truth behind the mysterious plane crash that supposedly killed him.  Reluctantly, the girls team up on a whirlwind adventure that takes them to around the globe in search for answers.

This book is a fast paced, intense thrill ride.  I was quite surprised that it went as dark and as deep as it did being a Young Adult book.  I just wasn’t expecting it.   I am usually pretty good at guessing ahead but this one definitely took some twists and turns that were a total surprise. Anne Heltzel really hit it on the mark for me combining my love of a good mystery and appealing my wanderlusting heart with every turn of the page.  Oh and can you spell Cliffhanger?  I am dying to know what happens next.  There has to be a sequel to this otherwise my raving review is going to get a whole lot darker.

Charlie, Presumed Dead hits shelves this June. I would definitely recommend adding it to your reading list.  Thanks so much to Netgalley and the author for giving me the opportunity to read and review it early.
